Having the thicker side plate increases strength, shock load, fatigue, and the overall working life of the chain & sprocket. Cottered roller chain & sprocket uses cotter pins instead of rivets, the benefit of this is that the chain & sprocket is easier to install sections and eliminate the need of cutting the rivet pins. Cost Saving #240H cottered roller chain & sprocket is commonly supplied as 10ft boxes, but alternate lengths are available per request.
